TWINVEY Electric Consultancy established in the year 2005, is primarily, involved in performing Power System studies, providing electrical engineering design services including preparation of FEED (Front End Engineering Design) documents, conducting specialized analysis & field measurements, undertaking third-party inspections and liaising services for industrial power connections.

We provide technical services, mainly, in protection relay setting calculations and coordination studies including that for High Voltage substations and can provide substantial engineering support in electrical design associated with Medium Voltage (MV) / Low Voltage (LV) systems. Whilst there is no specific experience we could quote in Company’s Profile regarding undertaking overall design coordination for MV substations, our team gained good experience in handling various areas of design coordination like Single Line Diagrams, equipment layouts, earthing & lightning protection design, cable / trench routing, cable scheduling, etc. through working in numerous projects where one or more of the above design coordination areas were part of our scope of work. We are therefore, more than capable to manage substation design coordination works should these come our way.
Our engineers are quite familiar with HV/MV/LV power system, its’ components and respective protection requirements, are trained and are well versed with software tools used for power system analysis and relay setting calculations. The General Manager himself has been in power system field since 1984. He is a power system study engineer with protection system background. He is directly involved in assuring quality of the technical deliverables and meeting Client’s requirements. The General Manager is ably supported by the Technical Manager who has the similar background with well-rounded overall experience.

We have performed Power System studies and carried out electrical engineering design calculations including FEED document preparation for various diverse areas, like, Manufacturing industries, Oil & Gas Industries, Utilities, Airports, Commercial/high rise residential buildings. TWINVEY Electric Consultancy, currently, is executing about a dozen of Power System study projects of varied nature and complexities.
We have completed over 500 projects mainly consisting of:
Power System Studies: Power Flow, Short Circuit, Voltage drop, Graded protection, Motor Starting and Harmonics studies.
Engineering Design Calculations: Earthing design (Ground Potential Rise, Step & Touch Potentials), Lightning protection calculations, Arc Flash hazard analysis, MV/ LV motor protection relay calculations, Arc Flash protection relay calculations, Unit Protections setting calculations for busbars, transformers/ reactors, etc. at various system voltage levels including for 220kV system.
We have also carried out few projects which involved high degree of technicality. One such project was of resolving starting issues of a 710kW fresh air fan motor that was taken up and resolved for ALEC, the Dubai Airport contractor in Dubai International Airport. The motor and fan were modelled and the behavior during starting was analyzed using mathematical tools and equivalent circuit diagrams before successfully resolving a long pending problem for ALEC.
Another project worth mentioning is that of designing of Steam Turbine (ST) tee-off connections to a 19/11kV transformer for a new RO Plant 11kV feed in ACWA plant in Oman as part of System studies and design review contract for M/s Osmoflo. The challenge of having an isolation facility in the ST tee-off connections which inherently had a very high symmetrical short-circuit levels (of the order of 150kA), was met by use of a 19kV Is Limiter (ABB make), in series with a 25kA distribution-class circuit breaker. This helped saving on a Generator Circuit Breaker (GCB) which otherwise would have posed space and cost constraints.
Yet another project worth of a mention, is, Lightning Protection System (LPS) design for a Bridge structure in the Sea, undertaken for Danway for DP World. The bridge being in the sea, an immersed earthing electrode system was used to achieve grounding of the LPS after due considerations of possible corrosion and erosion of the earthing system; the lighting poles acted as natural air-termination and down-conductor systems.
